Your first appointment

During your first session, your psychologist will discuss a range of topics, including your
family history, life and the specific issues that you are facing. While it can feel daunting
talking to someone you don’t know about such personal topics, we encourage you to be as
open and honest as you’re comfortable being – as this allows us to help you to the best of
our abilities.

Our standard appointment times are 50 minutes unless otherwise arranged. Please arrive 5
minutes early so you have enough time to prepare for your first session.
Your consultation fee is payable on the day of your appointment.

A referral is not required to see a psychologist, only if you wish to obtain a rebate from
Medicare.

Fees

Please contact our reception for our current therapy fee schedule and associated rebates
that may be applicable.

Medicare rebates are not available for assessment services. Fees for assessments vary
depending on the type of assessment required. Please contact our reception for our current
assessment fee schedule.

Letters and report writing requests are charged at our hourly rate per hour with a deposit
taken prior to commencement.

Medicare

Medicare rebates are available with a valid referral. Please ask our reception staff for
specific details about which rebate you are entitled to when you book your first appointment.

If you have a referral letter and Mental Health Care Plan from your doctor, you can claim the
Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions of psychological treatment within a calendar year. You
will need to obtain your referral letter and plan from your doctor before your first
appointment.

After 6 sessions, you will need a review appointment with your GP to be eligible for the
Medicare rebate for the remaining 4 sessions.

NDIS

We are not a registered provider with NDIS. In order to utilise your NDIS funding for our
psychology and assessment services, it is necessary for you to be either NDIS self-managed
or plan managed.

The NDIA does have the ability to approve the use of funds for clients who wish to access
psychological or assessment services provided their plan is approved through a
“Self-Managed” or “Registered Plan Provider” process. Please be aware that if you have an
“Agency Managed” (NDIA) plan, it is not possible to use your NDIS funds for psychological
and assessment services with us.

Workers Compensation and other injury insurers

Our psychologists do not work directly with insurance companies. We do not have the
administration support to invoice insurers. All accounts need to be paid in full at the time of
your appointment. As the client, you are responsible for your account, and if your payments
are covered by an institution or insurance company you will need to request reimbursement.

Private Health Insurance

Please check with your private health insurance provider if you are covered for psychology
as part of your plan.

We can issue you with a receipt to take to your health fund after your consultation for
claiming purposes. Please note: you can claim through either Medicare OR Private Health
Insurance, but not both.
